Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of mobile storage over traditional self storage? Convenience, security, and less handling of your items. We deliver the storage unit to you, wherever you need it. No need for multiple trips to the traditional self storage facility. No need to rent a truck. No need to handle your items twice, which lessens the chance for damage to your items. Your storage unit is then locked with your lock and placed out of the weather in our secure warehouse.
Is mobile storage more expensive that traditional self storage?
When you factor in the cost of a rental truck, fuel, not to mention the valuable time it takes you to make numerous trips to the traditional self storage site, and then having to handle every item twice as you unload it into storage, you will see that the mobile way is most likely the cost-effective way.
What sizes of storage units are available?
Our smallest containers are 5’ wide by 8’ long and 7’6” tall. Each unit will hold about 1 to 1 1/2 rooms of household items.
Our largest size is 7.5 ’ wide by 16’ long and 8’ tall. Each unit will hold about 3 to 4 1/2 rooms of household items. See our containers by clicking here.
How do I decide which size storage container and quantity I will need?
We have a large variety of containers and delivery options available so we can handle almost any type of requirement you may have from on-site or off-site storage, to delivery site space constraints.
Our 5’x 8’ containers will hold approximately one to 1 to 1 1/2 rooms of household items as large as king size mattresses, appliances, armoires, etc. We can deliver up to four of these storage containers with a single delivery charge.
Our larger 7.5 ’x16’ storage containers will hold approximately 3 to 4 1/2 rooms of household goods.
The best option is to give us a call and we will help you estimate your requirements. If there is room on our truck, we will actually recommend you take an extra storage unit. There will not be any extra delivery charges and if you don’t need it, we will pick it up. You will not be charged for any storage containers that you don’t use.
How much weight can each storage unit hold?
Our 5’ x 8’ containers can hold up to 2000 lbs each. Our 7.5 ’ x 16’ containers will hold up to 6,000 lbs. Please make sure to distribute the weight evenly throughout the containers.
How long do I have to load or unload the storage unit(s) before you pick them up?
Take your time! Unlike truck rental time restraints, you can take up to a week to load your storage unit. When it comes time to unload it, take up to another week. If you require more time than that, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We will not pick up your storage unit until we have made arrangements with you.
How much notice should I give to schedule delivery or pickup of my storage unit? We can usually schedule your delivery or pickup within 72 hours. Our busier times may take a little longer so be sure to let us know as soon as you can. We will give you a definite delivery or pickup date when you call our office.
Do the storage units lock?
Yes, we require that all storage units are locked prior to us picking them up. For added security we also require that the storage unit is locked with your lock, and you keep the only key.
Do you offer locks or packing materials?
Yes, we have new locks available for purchase along with a full line of boxes and packing materials. We will be happy to deliver these items at no additional charge when we deliver the storage unit to your home. We even have items available for rent such as moving blankets and appliance dollies. See the packing items that are available by clicking here.
Where are the Storage Units placed on my property?
The most common place is on your driveway or in a parking space. With your permission, we can place the 5’ x 8’ containers anywhere our all-terrain forklift can drive, however, please be aware that we are not responsible for damages should you request placement on your lawn or any surface other than where you normally drive your car. If you have a fairly level and solid area that is accessible by our truck or forklift there should not be a problem.
I live in an apartment or on a rental property, can I still use mobile storage?
Always ask permission from your Landlord before having us deliver your storage unit. Be sure you agree on a suitable location for us to place the storage unit. We can fit two of our 5’ x 8’ containers into a standard parking space.
Are there any items not allowed to be stored in your storage units?
Yes, the following are examples of items not allowed to be placed in our storage units: liquids of any kind, food or perishables, propane tanks, aerosol cans, firearms, ammunition, explosives, gasoline, other flammable liquids, or any inherently dangerous or illegal materials, jewelry, precious, invaluable or irreplaceable documents or property. If you are unsure if an item would be allowed, please call our office.
How much does your mobile storage service cost?
We will always be less expensive than the other guys. Our pricing structure is based on different factors, and we give discounts for multiple units and long term stays, so it is best to call our office or request an online quote to give you the best possible price. There is a minimum of one month charge but unlike our competition, we will prorate your rent at the time you move out, saving you even more money.
How accessible are my items once they are in your warehouse?
You can access your items Monday through Saturday during our normal business hours with only a phone call to let us know you are coming. We prefer a two hour advance notice. We will then place your storage unit in our customer access area. (Don’t forget your key). When you are done, we will place your storage unit back in our secured warehouse. There is no charge to access your belongings at our warehouse.
